Joker Card Rules

  • Can be played on anything: The Joker beats all cards including 03 (Override)
  • Any card beats Joker: After a Joker is played, the next player can play any card
  • Works during Chaos effects: Jokers can always be played regardless of active Chaos Joker Effects
  • Auto-discarded: When taking a pile, Jokers are discarded instead of added to hand

Chaos Joker Effects

Random global Chaos Joker Effects that can activate during matches, adding unpredictable strategic twists to gameplay.

Rules Flip

The usual card hierarchy can invert — your weakest cards suddenly rule the table.

Cards Lock Out

Whole groups of cards can become unplayable for a few turns, forcing you to adapt on the fly.

The turn timer can tighten without warning, turning a calm game into a scramble.

…and more. We won't spoil them all — half the fun is never knowing which twist the next Joker brings.

Joker Palace FAQ

Common questions about Joker Palace rules and gameplay

How many cards do you get in Joker Palace?

Each player gets 9 cards total: 3 palace cards (face down), 3 table cards (face up), and 3 in hand. You draw back to 3 cards in hand while the draw pile exists.

What happens if you can't play a card?

If you cannot play a valid card or your 30-second turn timer runs out, you must pick up the entire pile and add it to your hand.

What does the 03 (Override) card do?

The 03 is the most powerful card. Only another 03 or a Joker can be played on top of it. If the next player has neither, they must take the entire pile.

What does the 09 (Reverse Rank) card do?

When 09 is played, it flips the rule so the next card played must be 09 or lower. This creates strategic opportunities to play low cards.

What are Chaos Joker Effects?

Random global rule twists that can fire at any moment when a Joker is played. The deck might suddenly favor a different set of cards, the usual ranking can flip, or the clock can tighten — and you never know which twist is coming. That unpredictability is what keeps every match fresh. Jokers can always be played, whatever effect is active.

How long do you have to take a turn?

You have 30 seconds to play a card. If time runs out, you automatically take the pile. Some Chaos Joker Effects can tighten that window without warning, so don't get too comfortable.

What does the Joker card do in Joker Palace?

The Joker is the most valuable card in Joker Palace. It can be played on top of any card, and any card can be played on top of a Joker. Jokers can also be played during any Chaos Joker Effects. When you pick up a pile, Jokers are automatically discarded instead of added to your hand.

How does ranked matchmaking work in Joker Palace?

Joker Palace uses a points-based ranking system with 9 tiers from Wood to Master. You earn or lose rank points based on your match placement. At higher tiers, an ELO-based system matches you against similarly skilled opponents. Your stats — including win rate, total games, and current hot streak — are tracked on global leaderboards.
